Since December 2002 I have offered a choice of text or HTML formats, with HTML
pre-selected. Of my business subscribers (Web
Marketing Today and Doctor Ebiz),
about 16.2% selected text format. Of my casual subscribers (The
Joyful Heart newsletter), 22.6% selected text format. In my recent "Survey
of E-Mail Format Preferences and Programs,"Web Marketing Today,
May 7, 2003, I found that about 22% of respondents selected text format if no
